Open-source licences
GPSLarp is built on open-source software. This page carries the written offer of source code for the components whose licences entitle you to it. The complete list of components, with the licence and upstream source of each, ships inside the application and is shown by the installer.
01Written offer of source code
Some of the components distributed with GPSLarp are licensed under the GNU General Public License, the GNU Lesser General Public License, or another licence that entitles you to their source code.
For any such component, you may obtain the complete corresponding source code for the version distributed with your copy of GPSLarp. The source is available from each project's own repository, named beside it in the notices document described below. In addition, and for as long as that version is distributed, we will provide that source on request:
- By email
- privacy@gpslarp.com
- What to include
- The component name and version, exactly as they appear in the notices document, and the version of GPSLarp you received it with.
- Cost
- None, beyond the cost of physical media and delivery if you ask for it that way rather than as a download link.
This offer is made to any recipient of the software and covers the components identified in the notices document.
02Where the component list lives
The list of every third-party component, its licence, its upstream source and the full text of each licence is generated from the build itself, so it describes the copy you actually have rather than a list somebody maintained by hand. You can read it in two places:
- In the installer
- The macOS installer shows an abridged version — every component and this offer, without the licence texts — in its Read Me step, before you agree to anything.
- In the application
- The complete document, licence texts included, is installed with the
app as
THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt.
03Scope of this page
This page states how to obtain the source of the open-source components distributed with GPSLarp, which is what their licences require. It makes no statement about the licensing of GPSLarp itself.
